An opportunity is an open door. An open door reveals other open doors that lead still to more open doors. That is what life is all about. One door leads to other doors creating the tapestry that is the life of an individual. We can all look back at our own tapestry and see how each open door led to the doors that define who we are.

I recall an old Beetle Bailey comic strip that detailed well how a group of people might become so disjointed as to be totally out of sync. The comic drew a troop truck carrying a load of soldiers. They were all standing up in the back. They were looking for the enemy soldiers. Sarge asked which way they had gone.

A jack-o-lantern is a popular decoration at this time of year. From my vantage point, that is the only acceptable use of a pumpkin. I don’t like the taste or smell of pumpkin in any form. I don’t like pumpkin cookies, pumpkin bread, pumpkin spread, or pumpkin scented candles or deodorizer. Admittedly, I seem to be in the minority, but I accept that place without regret.

Flowers are beautiful! There are so many different colors and smells! They come in a variety of textures and foliage. Their blossoms run the range from very small, even minute’ (like the water meal), to very large (like the rafflesia arnoldii that can measure 3 ft. across).
