God opens doors. That is His work. God wrote to the church in Philadelphia and said that very thing. “See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it…” (Revelation 3:8) The Apostle Paul experienced this in his own life and he told the Corinthians about it, “For a great and effective door has opened to me…” (I Corinthians 16:9) “Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord…” (II Corinthians 2:12)

Instruction takes place both intentionally and unintentionally. Intentional teaching is obvious. It happens when someone plans a lesson to teach, a venue to teach it, and a method to teach it. Those who are present have usually been informed that the event was designed to teach intentionally.

One story is that the name Christian was a derisive term coined by non-believers to describe those who believed in Jesus. The explanation is that the term was intended to keep anyone else from committing by identifying that group with a man who was crucified. Surely, no one would want to be connected with such a loser!

I have a friend who had a heat stroke while playing golf. I am not sure about the details, but I do remember that he became very dizzy and felt like he was going to pass out. He may have actually passed out for all I know. But, one thing remains from this episode. To this day, he is nervous about playing golf in extreme heat.
