Wisdom is an interesting concept to me. I have known people who had no real “formal” education who are some of the wisest and knowledgeable people I have ever known! Their formal education consisted of a few years, maybe through elementary school and into middle or high school, but certainly not a high school diploma and college was out of the question!

All babies are born into the world immediately selfish. When they are hunger, it is time to eat right then! When they need a diaper change, they need it right now! When they are tired, a nap is a necessity right now! The signal for NOW is some form of a screeching cry or yell. Selfishness!

“Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.” (I Peter 4:9) Peter’s words reveal a basic problem with people in our day—we are not as hospitable as once we were. I remember neighbors and other friends gathering together more often than we do now. The change, I think, mostly comes from the change in the “busy-ness” of our society.
